Course Description:The first days of school are filled with new enthusiasm and momentum for both the teachers and students. This course explores meaningful activities that can impact your math classroom from takeoff. The course focuses on how to start doing math on the first day of school, while simultaneously establishing a positive classroom environment built around a growth mindset and community of learners. By the end of the course, you will leave with activities that are meant to spark your students’ interest and motivation, as well as establish an engaging classroom culture that allows that energy to last throughout the upcoming year. Additionally, this course could be beneficial any time of the year to reassess and learn new techniques and ways to organize math in your classroom.

Objectives:
* Learn math strategies that support mathematical thinking all year.
* Learn ideas to organize a math classroom from the start to create a highly engaging classroom for math
discussions.
* Learn ways to promote critical thinking throughout the year to build a growth mindset where students feel
safe to take risks in their learning.

Audience: Teachers K-12

Time:This course takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.
