Meaningful Math Makeovers: Making Math Problems More Engaging


Description
Course Description: This course offers participants an opportunity to learn strategies to transform their math exercises from a given text into a meaningful problem-solving experience. Learn ways to help students engage with a problem that promotes thinking, strategizing, and learning from mistakes. This course focuses on how adjusting our language, delivery, and support strategies as teachers help promote sense-making for students. Example tasks and resources to supplement your curriculum will be shared. Participants will walk away with at least one new alteration to implement thoughtful problem-solving learning in the classroom.

Objectives:
-Explore strategies to transform math problems to support all learners.
-Learn techniques to support math problem-solving that emphasizes critical thinking.
-Explore ways our teacher language and delivery impacts math learning for students.
-Learn an array of strategies and resources for math problem-solving that promotes sense-making for students.
