New & Novice Teacher Academy Course 3: Delivering High Quality Learning Experiences for ALL Students

Description
Series Description:The New and Novice Teacher Academy is a series of 5 courses designed for teachers in their first to third year of teaching. While each of the 5 courses can stand alone and be completed independently of the others, users are strongly encouraged to complete all 5 courses sequentially as they are linked to each other in spirit and content. The courses are designed to help teachers create inclusive, high-impact learning experiences for a wide range of learners. Each course provides a brief overview of theory and is packed with takeaway strategies that teachers can implement in their classrooms.

Course Description:This is the third course in the New and Novice Teacher Academy. This course explores ways to deliver engaging instruction that is aligned with your desired outcomes for students. The course begins by looking at student engagement and the different ways that students engage in learning. You will learn a model for choosing appropriate instructional methods and a model for differentiating instruction to ensure that all students, regardless of ability, have access to meaningful and challenging content.

Objectives:
* Demonstrate a model for deciding the best instructional method to use, based on the desired outcomes of
the lessons and the needs of the learners.
* Explore the various ways that students can be engaged, and ways to increase student engagement.
* Distinguish between and apply Universal Design for Learning and Differentiation to ensure engagement of a
wide range of learners.

Audience:K-12 Teachers in their first to third year of teaching, or any teacher looking for a refresher in differentiation, instructional methods, and student engagement.
