Description
Course Description: Learning standards lead to the development of aligned learning targets for student learning. In this course you will learn a 5-step process for unpacking a learning standard to better understand what students should know and be able to do as a result of student work. Although this session will use writing standards as examples, all content areas and grades would benefit from this session.

Course Objectives:
* Identify parts of a standard for instructional planning
* Learn a 5-step process to understand critical components of a learning standard
* Apply the 5-step process to new learning standards using a template
* Reflect on how this process can increase both student learning, instructional planning, and
assessment practices.
